Stylized Point Cloud Staircase | Blender | Hobby Project
I really enjoy playing around with Blender, especially using its geometry node system for interesting procedural results. For this project I used an iPad to scan the back staircase of the geology building at Queen’s University. I was interested in how point clouds could be handled and rendered in Blender and what kinds of simple transformations could be applied to them with geometry nodes, and then lit and animated a walkthrough because I’d never done an animation in Blender before. I thought the result was pretty cool!
The final render is a bit noisy as a concession to keep the rendering time reasonable, as it wasn’t feasible to leave my machine processing for a day and a half at the time.
